The 2017 Flag Day Festival is being launched with an exciting new student (grades 7-12) and adult Flag Art, Photography & Digital Image Contest that runs from March 1 to May 1, 2017. The Somerville Elks invite residents of Central NJ to create and enter inspiring and patriotic flag art.
Finalists will showcase their work at the AT&T store in the Bridgewater Commons Mall, and winners will be recognized with a display of their artwork on the digital scoreboard at a Somerset Patriots ballgame.
We are looking to reach the student and adult art community through Facebook by asking everyone’s help in spreading the word by Liking and Sharing the Flag Day Festival Facebook page through your individual and organization’s Facebook pages.
Click this Facebook link to Like, Share and get details from the Contest flyer.
Through this same flyer, the Somerville Elks are also seeking nominations of high school students whose service or actions have honored our flag in a special way that deserves to be recognized on the field of a Somerset Patriots ballgame. Teachers, parents, scout leaders and all residents are encouraged to submit nominations by May 1, 2017.
Together, let’s revitalize our patriotic Flag Day tradition.
Thank you and God Bless America,
Flag Day Committee Chair

On Saturday, June 10, 2017 (rain date June 11), the Somerville Elks are hosting the Fourth Annual Flag Day Festival in celebration of the adoption of the United States Flag on the grounds of the Somerset County Courthouse in downtown Somerville, N.J. from 11:30 am to 4 pm.
The mission of Flag Day Festival is to revitalize the Flag Day tradition with an entertaining and patriotic celebration that delights children, unites people of all backgrounds, and fosters lifelong pride in our flag and our freedom.
We plan to make the festival fun for children with live musical performances, a display of interesting military and rescue vehicles, patriotic art and digital image contest awards, and a street fair full of exhibitors and Americana craft vendors in one red, white, and blue festival with food and prizes that is the largest celebration of Flag Day in the region.
Our flag is worth celebrating on this day.
