Citizen’s Pledge – Help Change New Jersey Now

Dear Friends and Citizens,

While there are many ways in which we must carry out our duties as citizens, none is more important than direct engagement in the electoral process. Our founders understood this and were deeply focused on the quality and morality of their elected leaders. We’ve lost that engagement and focus due to “our busy lives”, and our country has suffered as a result.

Every Senate and Assembly seat in New Jersey is up for election and we must get engaged now to allow NJ to emerge from its deep financial woes.

Governor Christie urges you to take action now on one of the many races listed below.

The race in District 27 in Morris and Essex Counties is particularly important as it involves a true enemy of the taxpayer, Dick Codey – see below, the excellent grass-roots organization Americans for Prosperity has given Codey an F on its taxpayer scorecard. In his place, we can put in a real honest friend of the taxpayer, Bill Eames. Eames is not part of the establishment Republicans and in fact several prominent Republicans have endorsed Codey because they only care about themselves and the taxpayer be damned. This is an indication of how deep our problems are and how unprincipled even the Republican party has become.

We must take back our state and our country one election at a time. I will be going door to door this Sunday and next Sunday for Eames. He needs money, phone callers, and walkers. Whether or not you can join me, get engaged in your local election, talk it up with friends and family and, of course vote and get others to vote on November 8.

Let’s start acting like this is our state and our country.

For Liberty,
Michael

Dear Michael,
By now, you know the drill all too well. New Jersey remains the worst state in the nation for taxes. Our unemployment rate is the worst in the region. And things aren’t getting much better.

That’s why today AFP has launched a statewide educational effort and media blitz to inform citizens about the anti-taxpayer voting records of several of the worst culprits in Trenton!

Over the next couple of weeks, AFP will be reaching out to citizens across New Jersey via TV, radio and direct mail to let them know just how their representatives in the State Senate have voted to raise their taxes and waste hundreds of millions in taxpayer monies — and to put grassroots pressure on these politicians to change course.

AFP will be bringing our pro-taxpayer message to several key districts including…

  • District 2 – Sen. Jim Whelan
  • District 3 – Sen. Steve Sweeney
  • District 14 – Sen. Linda Greenstein
  • District 27 – Sen. Dick Codey
  • District 38 – Sen. Bob Gordon

Sens. Whelan, Sweeney, Greenstein, Codey and Gordon have one thing in common – each of them has earned an “F” rating on both of Americans for Prosperity’s Taxpayer Scorecards – including our 2008-2009 Taxpayer Scorecard and our 2010-2011 Midterm Scorecard!

The time has come to expose the high tax, big government voting records of these legislators and put pressure on our elected officials to restore fiscal sanity to Trenton!
